March 2010 - Jamie

My name is Jamie, I am a mother of two busy boys. Taine is now 8 and has turned into a sensitive, caring and sporty kid who gets along with everyone. Bryce is 6 and is our strong spirited son that also has a very cuddly side as well as being sporty.

Prior to having kids, my husband and I thought our lives would just continue on as normal once we had kids. Nobody prepared us for the sleepless nights while still trying to maintain a career. Not only were we not prepared, nobody warned us that one of our boys might have colic for several months plus separation anxiety for several years!
So my career went from 5 days a week to 4 and then 3 until we decided that what my youngest son really needed was for (mom) to stay at home. It was such a hard decision to make. I felt “ripped off” at first that I had to leave my career and yet it turned out to be the best thing I ever did! Someone once told me “if you do not like the direction your life is going, turn the wheel!”

Less than one month after I had left my career working in commercial construction, we took a holiday to New Zealand to visit my husband’s family. Shorty after arriving, we were at a local swimming pool where I saw a lot of cute swimming bags. My initial thought was “why don’t we have something like this in Canada?” I had always dreamed of working from home. A bright light went off! Soon after contacting the Owner of Kaboodle Bags in New Zealand, we had arranged a business deal and my first order of Kaboodle Swimming Bags were on their way to Canada. I now own Kid Kiwi Enterprises- distributor of Kaboodle Swimming Bags for North America (www.kaboodlebags.ca). My main business is online as well as several retail locations in BC and recently in Alberta.

For the last two years, I have been able to be at every soccer, hockey, rugby, swimming event that my energetic boys are in. I have an absolutely amazing husband who strongly supports my business decision and loves that our home life is so calm compared to what it used to be. We no longer have to rush to pick up the kids from daycare and get dinner made within 15 minutes. “Miraculously”, our youngest son has very little of his anxiety and he has adjusted to full time school very well. We appreciate the little things in life and take less expensive camping holidays in order to have the whole summer together. It feels so good to give my kids so much of our time and attention.
